Discover the engineering, safety and technology highlights that make Outback a true Subaru.
Permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD) delivers power to all four wheels at all times ensuring enhanced control of the Outback on or off-road - even in poor conditions. The entire drive system, from the Boxer engine to the rear differential, is mounted in a straight, symmetrical line, delivering Outback’s stability and balance.
The Outback’s SUBARU Boxer engine has a longitudinally-mounted horizontally-opposed configuration. The pistons are placed 180 degrees apart allowing a lower, flatter engine profile. This gives the powerplant - and therefore the whole car- a lower centre of gravity. This more balanced weight distribution gives the Outback exceptional handling and poise.
X-Mode with Hill Descent Control makes climbing and descending steep, slippery surfaces in Outback controlled, calm and worry-free. When activated, X-Mode with Hill Descent Control takes command of the engine, transmission, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, brakes, and other components to provide the best traction and grip in difficult conditions. Hill Descent Control moderates speed and braking for you when going downhill, allowing you to concentrate on steering.
A 200mm ground clearance shuns uneven ground - allowing Outback to negotiate rocky, rutted tracks or even ford streams.
Outback’s towing capacity of up to 2000kg* lets you hitch up a loaded trailer or caravan whenever the need arises.
EyeSight*1, Subaru’s advanced driver assist technology, offers Outback drivers a second pair of eyes. A high-resolution two camera system detects and interprets the environment, accurately tracking things like vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. EyeSight comprises six safety systems that, where necessary, provide warnings and collision avoidance assistance as events unfold.
Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD) features Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Change Assist & Rear Cross Traffic Alert. It monitors rear blind spots for danger, makes lane changes safer, and can also warn of the potential for a collision - for instance whilst reversing into a street with passing traffic.
High Beam Assist (HBA) automatically controls the selection of main or dipped beam at night, ensuring the best visibility without dazzling oncoming traffic.
Outback’s 5* Euro NCAP rating for safety is the testing agency’s highest award. Outback performed well in adult crash test protection, with maximum points awarded in the side impact barrier test. In dynamic crash tests the Outback scored maximum points for protecting small infants.
The SUBARU infotainment system*2 lets you make phone calls and set the navigation. You can control operations via the central multi-function touchscreen, steering wheel controls, or simply use your voice. It’s easy to connect your smartphone or other mobile music device via the USB or standard AUX jack.
Outback’s reversing camera helps you reverse and park easily and safely.
The keyless entry & push button start system makes short work of setting off. A key fob gives you easy keyless entry. Simply grip the door handles to unlock them and start the engine with the push of a button.
A powered rear tailgate makes loading is easy; it opens and closes automatically at the push of a button.
