Pushing safety protection forward
REASSURINGLY BETTER: SUBARU SAFETY
Subaru has always put safety front and centre. So it’s no accident that the latest Subaru Outback, Forester, XV, Levorg and Impreza hold the EURO NCAP 5 star accreditation. These independent, regularly updated crash tests recreate real-life accident scenarios that could result in injury or death for car occupants or other road users. Put simply, the maximum 5 star safety rating means ‘Overall good performance in crash protection. Well-equipped with robust crash avoidance technology’. There are several factors that make the way Subarus are built better, safer and more secure in a crash.

Key components such as engine, suspension and steering are cradle-mounted. This lengthens the front crumple zone available.
A SAFETY CELL
Ring-shaped reinforcement frames form a hardened skeleton from roof to door, pillar to floor. This creates a safe area within the cabin, diverting the force of any impact away from passengers. If there’s a crash, the low mounted position of the engine makes it more likely to slide safely beneath the floor - keeping passengers out of harm’s way.
ADULT AND CHILD PASSENGER AWARDS. PEDESTRIAN AWARDS, TOO.
The Subaru XV hasn’t just been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP safety performance tests; it’s also achieved the highest score for Child Protection awarded by Euro NCAP. The XV also achieved the highest combined score for Safety Assist and Adult, Child and Pedestrian Protection in its class*. Featuring Subaru's proven Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, the XV also introduces an advanced impact energy relay structure, so both the driver and passengers are well-protected throughout the car. The USA’s Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the all-new Subaru WRX STI, ‘Top Safety Pick’ – its highest possible vehicle safety ranking.
We’ve been crash testing since 1965, long before it was a standard requirement.
